Fun event however the ratio of men to women was completely off. Don’t sell so many tickets to women if you have no uptake from the guys! I didn’t pay £27 to make friends. I already know women are amazing!
Sandra
It was an ok event but way too many women than men and out of three matches, one was a woman friend match, one was with a guy who didn’t turn up, one was unmatched so that part wasn’t great
Charlie
Ronnie and Balin were amazing. On it with getting people engaged with the event, even though the mics didn’t work. The venue was a tricky layout and they made it work. Both happy and nice people.
Chloe
Host was engaging. Venue was very small though so it was awkward trying to move around people. Good crowd of people. Would go again
Vinay
The event itself was nice and the hosts were very accommodating…. I just wish the host understood that he wasnt loud enough and we couldnt hear his announcements….
Shana
This was the first event that I went to and I was extremely disappointed. The ratio of men to women was ridiculous. It was loud and chaotic. It didn’t feel like there was a good system in place. It was a waste of time and would not recommend to anyone
Paul
This is not what it’s meant to be. Signed up to an event the ratio wasn’t fair in terms of women and men, and it was an incredibly chaotic evening
Klarissa
The event vanue was nice, but there way more women than men and I was matched 3 times with a woman (that they called "friend match"). I didn't go to get a female friend so I ended up leaving the event quite early. It didn't work out for me but it might for others.
James
What a great format to easily meet people and more unusual than the standard speed dating.
Saurabh
I think the host tried to make it a fun experience but when she started roasting men, a lot of women started to leave. The event could have been organized better.
Annabel
It was a fun idea! Gave the attendees something to talk about.
Ricky
Didn't work people didn't stay in groups and didn't stay with matches plus matches and groups had zero physical attraction
Caragh
The event was really well run and everyone was lovely!
Sophie
Some of the questions were a bit weird or confusing, and it was awkward trying to mingle and find your matches. That being said, I did get along with one of my matches and we had a lot in common, though I was not attracted to him. There was a lot more women than men; if it was a bigger group and more men I would consider going to another event
Hannah
The ratio of male to female was significantly off, when put into groups of 24 people there were 3 men. Out of 3 matches, I was “friend” matched 2/3 times which wasn’t clear when buying the ticket. As the tickets were sold separately as male and female it would have been easy to monitor and control numbers.
Mary
Interesting event, needs a little more finesse
James
The host did not fully explain how Matchbox worked. I gave up and left before any messages came through.
Francesca
The event was bad organize and the match was completely wrong. No questions regarding physical appearance and the question were not deep enough. Also the host was super awkward and made a lot of people uncomfortable. I would never return and I wish I didn’t waste £27 for it.
Joe
I felt that the matches were nothing like me and all of them had travelled a long way to the venue so had little in common / not local. Physically also not attracted to them. The other women complained about being matched with other women for a high ticket price. By the time the matches were done there was no time to mingle with others as most had left.
Yiannis
I felt the venue was very small for this type of event and overpriced
Nikul
This comedian host is the best- could not remember her name! 😂
Ari
I don’t know if the algorithm works.
Patrizia
I'm over 40. There was not specific age group which made me impossible to find someone to be matched with. The vast majority of people was much younger than 40. Also, l' m introverted, the way the event was staged was too pushy for me. I wouldn't like to be on stage. People's personality was not taken into account. Definitely not for me.

Hmm.. too many males. Not my type
Alexandra
I found that the women to men ratio was off although it seems that most of the men didn’t get the memo/ didn’t read the schedule and so most arrived too late to participate in the questionnaire part. This meant that most women made more friend matches. Also, the matchbox interview questions didn’t take into consideration certain important attributes like smoking. Many women in our group were matched with smokers when they do not smoke and did not want to be with a smoker. Personally, the only non-friend match I made I couldn’t find and they never responded when I messaged them so it was a bit of a wash. I did overhear a few people who were not impressed that for the ticket price the first beverage was not included.

The Good: Great venue, and luckily as a bisexual attendee, the lack of men didn't ruin my night. The Bad: Severe Gender Imbalance: Straight women got "friend matches" for 2/3 of the night. Ticket sales must be capped by gender/sexuality to prevent this. Overpriced & Overcrowded: Too many people for the space, and way too expensive to not even include a free drink

This was the worst event I’ve ever been to, I will be trying to get a refund.

Honestly, the hosts were no where to be seen after they announce the rounds. The rounds were poorly done. No one knew where to go for groups so went anywhere. People dipped as well so didnt meet 1, which was a guy which leads to another point - gender ratio and age groups must be stated prior Also too small a venue for 100 people. Girls came with friends so they didnt want to socialise but among themselves like a club so not really there for eventing
Georgie
There was a huge imbalance of women and men which I appreciate can’t be controlled. However, the 1:1 element of the algorithm meant that if you were in a “platonic” match it’s like you were on the bench and couldn’t join conversations because it would like you weren’t respecting the algorithm. 3 matches, 2/3 were platonic. Nearly £30 on one “love match” conversation and another group chat with a bunch of incredible women despondently trying to navigate the dating world.
Lucy
This was a terrible dating event - they didn’t cap the number of women so a huge amount of women showed up and barely any men, so most (heterosexual) women were matched with other women three times. Of the two male matches I got, one was very obviously not compatible, so the AI algorithm plainly doesn’t work, and the other had left. To top it off, the drinks at this venue were very expensive as was the ticket. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re looking for an expensive way to make new female friends.
Bala
The event felt disorganised as a whole. It was a struggle to find the group you’re meant to be in and towards the last round people weren’t even trying to be in their groups and it just turned into a regular mixer. It was also unclear how many matches we get in a day. When we finally got to the match, there wasn’t enough time to actually get to know them well enough. The quality of matches themselves didn’t make much sense or rather the rationale didn’t really give anything much for us to go off of to chat. It’s a good concept in theory but poorly executed. It would make more sense if the questionnaire was sent a day ahead and was bit more detailed and if the AI told us what our similarities were so we could hit it off on that for starters and then for the host to actually do some crowd controlling during the event itself. Did it once out of curiosity, not quite sure I’ll do it again.
Josh
It felt very chaotic and needed more organisation from the hosts. Logistically, it was already a complex process but it wasn’t helped having to walk around and ask every single person what group they’re in and who they are. If we had more clearly assigned areas, and name badges or something then it would have helped. As someone who was already very anxious about this event, the lack of organisation didn’t help.
Daisy
The event was a little different from what was described. They said there would be clues to find out the match, but no real clues happened, just ice breaker questions. It did feel a little forced at times and I don’t think they asked enough about what you’re looking for in the questions. It was an interesting experience, but I think it would be improved if the group part didn’t happen and you had the ice breaker questions to talk to others and there were somehow actual hints as to who your match is?
Raf
Surprised at how accurate the AI Was. However the host was very very badly mannered. I’m a 6ft3 man & I felt embarrassed listening to her. She referred to a guy in the audience as a “small Asian man” & her jokes were coming across as rude/condescending instead of genuinely funny. No one was laughing and she lost control of the event, people spent time talking with their matches and she was just speaking on the mic by herself with a handful of attendees who wanted to listen. Very poor host. Exceptional ai algorithm though for matching
Romesh
The premise of the event wasn't clear and the theatrical nature with the compere was cringe worthy, the host was condescending to men, referring to members of the audience by their ethnic appearance (e.g. Chinese guy and Arab guy) and humiliated members of the audience on stage. Had I known this was the calibre of the event, I wouldn't have bought a ticket or given up time on my weekend.
Lauren
This was a horrendous event. The questions were surface level and didn't get to the core of your personality, the host was awful and made people feel uncomfortable to the point that most people left, the venue organisers were sitting laughing at the people there, it was just all around awful and a complete waste of money. Multiple points during the night we were shushed by the host so she could make jokes, it was so condescending and, as a 28 year old woman who is ultimately trying to put herself out there to meet someone, I basically felt like I was being made a fool of. I've complained to Thursday and am trying to get my money back. Never again.
